Did I Hear Someone Say BUNNIES?

Meet the newest members of our family. Top is Amanda (full name: Amanda Keys). Middle is Daisy (full name: Lazy Daisy). And the bottom is labeled "Bunny Butts". Aren't they the sweetest things ever?

We had asked our neighbor to care for them while we were gone last weekend. She was more than happy to accept. She said she likes animals more than people (said she was joking). She is definitely an animal lover, though. We knew they would be in good hands. We got her a thank you card and a $25 gift card for Applebee's to show how much we appreciated her help. She called later, "You're in trouble now (uh-oh). You were not supposed to do that. I'll accept it this time, but I don't want you doing that again. I believe in neighbors taking care of each other."

So throughout our conversation, I told her that I believe the same. And if they ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask. I like the feeling of knowing that the people next door are willing to be there for you and not expect anything in return.

Now I need to start planning that neighborhood bonfire/barbeque so we can get back on the good list with the "STAY OFF OF MY LAWN" lady. It's worth a try.

Awww… I love the bunnies… they are soo cute and I love their names too. Good job!

I had a friend give me a gift certificate for taking care of her kitties while she was away too. She’s a good friend and I felt guilty that she felt the need to get me anything. I think just the thank you card would have been better.

    That’s just me though…

Mt- the kids came up with the names. Daisy is Jesse's bunny and Amanda is Bobby's. Apparently Amanda Keys is the name of video game character. Lovely. I'll just think of her as Amanda and try to forget that one.

Now that I think about it, we should have probably just given a thank you card, but I wanted to let her know how much we appreciated her help (and all the hugs and kisses the bunnies received). I guess I didn't think that it could be taken in a negative way. She wasn't mad, just felt bad that we did that for them. Kinda like you I guess. I've learned my lesson! Just return a favor if ever asked (which we would have done anyways).

Enough about that....I see you find the humor in the word verif. also. Mine this time is: oygyus

Bearette- Pat my bunnies all you want! I almost titled this post "Pat the Bunny" like the children's book. I'm sure they'll enjoy their virtual pats.

Liz- Bobby's fifth grade class had a pet bunny named Bun Bun. It was cute.

I don't know if "Velveteen" is a breed, but I think that's a good description for every bunny that I've petted. They're so darn soft (and cute!).

I do know some breeds: Dutch (ours), Lop-Eared, Netherland Dwarf (cute but not good for kids...sorry Jag), Rex (looks like a Jack Rabbit), Angora (don't you love your sweater?), and I just found a new one in our book....Satin! Maybe that's the breed of your friend's?

    They are so cute!

I wouldn't feel bad about the gift certificate thing. I used to pet-sit for neighbors when I was in high school and they'd always pay me, and my mom would pay the neighborhood kid that would take care of Elmo when we'd go out of town (before I moved here). Maybe it's different when you've asked an adult instead of a kid, but I probably would've gotten them something as well.

Oh that neighbor is a toughy! Definately need the neighborhood bbq. Those bunnies are so so cute. We all know that most people will help without expecting anything but I always feel the need to get them something or another just to let them know how appriciative I am. But then again, when you're broke or have nothing, you know they are there anyway. So have a good afternoon!
